07 – The First Encounter with Other Creatures

The cloud was solid and toppled over as Feilong bumped into it with his head. He was completely startled.

«My apologies, dear Lady Sheep! My son is outside for the very first time today,» he heard his mother say in a soft, gentle voice.

He turned towards her. His mother was looking at the little «cloud».

«Do not be afraid. I will help you up and heal your injuries.»

His mother approached the fallen sheep and helped her back onto her feet. Then she closed her eyes and let healing energy flow into the sheep.

«Are you feeling better?» she asked the sheep.

The sheep looked up at her in awe. «Thank you, Mrs Dragon.»

She looked at Feilong. «Please apologise to Mrs Sheep.»

Feilong looked down in embarrassment. «I’m sorry, Mrs Sheep. You’re the first sheep I’ve ever seen in my life. I thought you were a cloud.»

The sheep laughed. «A cloud! That’s funny. Your mother helped me back onto my feet and healed my bruises. Everything is fine.»

The sheep turned to Feilong’s mother. «I have children of my own. I know how lively they can be sometimes. Thank you for helping me.»

«Could you call the other members of your flock?» Feilong’s mother asked. «Since we’re here, we could see if any of the others might need some healing too.»

«Oh, that’s kind of you, but you know that’s not necessary.»

«Yes, it is,» said Feilong. «I behaved wrongly, so you should receive proper compensation.»

His mother was surprised at how grown-up her son suddenly sounded.

While the sheep called her flock together, his mother explained to Feilong what sheep were and that when they fell over, they often couldn’t get up again by themselves.

Feilong and his mother now stood in the middle of a flock of sheep.

«Please let me do it, Mama,» Feilong asked.
«All right, but you’ll be weakened afterwards.»
«I know, but I’m willing to accept that.»

His mother felt proud of her son.

Feilong closed his eyes, imagined each sheep, and sensed what kind of healing each one needed. He let the corresponding energy flow into every sheep. He noticed that there were many young sheep in the flock, children too.

Finally, they said goodbye to the sheep and settled down a little further away on the meadow to rest, somewhere the sheep could no longer see them.
