17 – An Unexpected Encounter

Feilong dived into the clouds. At once, everything was damp and cold. Still, he managed to keep his balance.
Suddenly, the clouds began to swirl. Something wasn’t right. But before he could look more closely, a powerful jet of water swept straight into his face.
He stumbled, fell, screamed, and tried to catch himself, but only spun helplessly as he kept tumbling downwards.
Then, all at once, something soft broke his fall. Cautiously, he opened his eyes. It felt like the back of a dragon.
«I’ve got you. Hold on tight, please. I’ll take you safely down now», said the dragon in a deep, gentle voice.
«Feilong, are you all right?» called his grandma, appearing a few metres ahead of him at that very moment.
«Yes, I’ve got him», replied the dragon Feilong was sitting on, before Feilong could say anything himself.
«What happened? I didn’t mean to!» cried another dragon who appeared just then. This one wasn’t quite as big as the others, but definitely larger than Feilong himself.
«We’ll talk about it once we’re down», his grandma said firmly.
