23 – A New Morning

Warm rays touched Feilong’s body. He opened his eyes and realised that it was very bright. For a moment, he had to remember where he was.

He was lying in the corner of a room on a very comfortable surface. On the opposite wall there was a large opening.

He walked over to the opening and looked outside. The sky was blue, and the ocean looked calm. The warm, bright rays came from the yellow ball in the sky, which was apparently called the sun.

Feilong stretched, spread his wings wide once, gave himself a good shake, and then set off to find the others.

However, he couldn’t see anyone inside the cave. So he stepped outside and looked around.

He stood a few metres from the edge of the cliff, gazing at the water, when suddenly a flash shot up from the sea and landed beside him.

«Good morning, Feilong,» greeted his cousin.
«Good morning, eldest son of Shuilong,» Feilong replied.
«Do you know where the others are?» he asked.

«All the fully grown water dragons are down in the sea, still discussing something,» his cousin answered.
«I’m afraid I don’t know where your father is.»

«Down in the sea?» Feilong said thoughtfully.

«Yes, we have huge meeting and council areas down there. I’d show them to you, but I’m afraid your swimming skills are probably as poor as my flying skills in the open air.»

Feilong nodded and then replied,
«I don’t know about your flying skills in the open air, but from what I’ve learnt about us dragons so far, you’re probably right about that.»

His cousin smiled and nodded.
