32 – Under the Wings of the Ancestors

Feilong learned much from his great-grandpa about his father’s side of the family, about his grandma, his father’s mother, who had cared for him just as lovingly as his other grandma, his mother’s mother. He also learned many things about his father himself.
Beyond that, his great-grandpa told him much about dragons in general, especially about ice and wind dragons, and about many other things besides.
Feilong absorbed every word like a sponge. His great-grandpa, in turn, was eager to hear all about what Feilong had already experienced in his still rather short life.
Feilong enjoyed the conversation with his great-grandpa. Yet the heat was beginning to take its toll.
Just then, his father appeared to check on them.
«Feilong, my son, you don’t look well. Are you all right?» he asked, clearly concerned.
«Yes, Grandpa is wonderful. He’s told me a lot about you. But you were right, the heat here is getting to me.»
His father looked at him anxiously, wrapped a wing around him and glanced towards Grandpa. The old dragon gave a silent nod, as if he knew exactly what was happening.
